About Us
Operating since 2024, Brighter Futures Mentoring provides consistent, relationship-based mentoring for children and young people in care across South Australia.
Our Mission
Brighter Futures Mentoring was founded by Paula, who spent 10 years working in residential care and saw first-hand the difference consistent, relationship-based mentoring can make. Since 2024, the service has grown steadily to meet demand, supporting stability, engagement, and life-skill development for children and young people in care.
Our team of five mentors is led by Lewis, a former DCP mentor and youth engagement worker who supported implementation of the Noarlunga Youth Engagement Program. We service Adelaide metro, Adelaide Hills, and surrounding regions including Mount Barker, Victor Harbor, and Murray Bridge.
“Every young person in care deserves a consistent, trusted mentor who shows up — building stability, connection, and skills for life.”
Our Values
The principles that guide everything we do.
Trauma-Informed
Every interaction is grounded in an understanding of trauma and its impact on young people in care.
Relationship-Based
We build trust through consistent, genuine connections that young people can rely on.
Strengths-Based
We focus on what young people can do, building confidence and momentum from their existing strengths.
Case Plan Aligned
Our mentoring is practical and works in partnership with each young person's care and case plan goals.
Our Approach
How we work with young people, from first referral through to lasting impact.
Referral & Matching
Every young person is matched to a mentor based on their needs, goals, and fit, so the relationship starts on the right foundation.
Building Trust & Routine
Consistent sessions create predictability and safety, giving young people someone they can rely on to show up.
Practical, Real-World Engagement
Mentoring happens through meaningful activities, in the community, in the kitchen, on the trail, aligned with case plan goals.
Growth & Independence
Over time, we support young people to build confidence, life skills, and the momentum they need to move toward independence.
